Wilfried Wagner

Prof. Wilfried Wagner is a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a distinguished career in clinical practice, academic leadership, and interdisciplinary research. He studied both medicine and dentistry in Saarbrücken and Mainz, earning dual licensure as a medical doctor and dentist. He began his academic and clinical career at the University of Mainz, where he served as Chair and Medical Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1992, and as Managing President of the Dental Hospital from 1996 to 2016.

His scientific contributions have focused on tumor biology, implantology, tissue reconstruction, and patient quality of life after treatment. He has held leadership roles in medical education, served on multiple university boards, and contributed to the advancement of oral and maxillofacial surgery through his editorial work with several international journals.

Prof. Wagner served on the Board of the Oral Reconstruction Foundation beginning in 2005 and now holds the title of Honorary Board Member, in recognition of his enduring contributions to the Foundation’s mission in research, education, and patient-centered care.
